PSG Want To Renew Messi’s Contract

French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are looking to tie seven-time Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi onto a new contract with the club.

The club’s football advisor Luis Campos voiced the club’s desire to have the Argentine star renew his contract before the summer transfer window, with which he was not happy over the club’s failure to get new players in on time.

Luis Campos joined the Parisian club in June in a role that the club said was to “focus on the performance, recruitment, and organisational side” of the club. The club’s new football advisor oversaw a busy transfer window after replacing the club’s former Sporting Director Leonardo.

Paris Saint-Germain welcomed six new players into the club over the summer transfer window, with Fabian Ruiz, Renato Sanches, Carlos Soler and Vitinha among the players brought in summer.

The club is now looking to tie Lionel Messi onto a new contract. The Argentinian joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona last summer in a two-year deal and has a year left on his current contract with the club.

Campos has said of Messi’s time at PSG: “Last season was difficult for him. After being an icon in Barcelona for 20 years, he had to make a major life change in a different place and in a different league than the Spanish one. He needed time.

“Now we see a Leo who will gradually reach the level we were used to. Will we renew his contract? We have to hope so, of course, but hopefully, he can stay.”
