Paul Pogba’s Brother Charged By Police In Extortion Case

Juventus and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba’s brother, Mathias Pogba, is among five to face a police charge in an extortion case against the Juventus star and World Cup winner.

Mathias Pogba is said to have been part of a gang which threatened Paul Pogba and tried extorting money from the Juventus midfielder for ‘protection services’, and Mathias Pogba has since been picked up by police and facing a police charge in the extortion case, according to reports in France.

Mathias Pogba, older brother of Paul Pogba, was charged following an alleged extortion attempt and threat to his brother’s life. The charge came after Paul Pogba accused his brother and ‘childhood friends’ of being in a group that targeted him and sought to make him pay £ 11 million for ‘protection services for the last 13 years.

Mathias Pogba is one of four others to have been picked and placed under police custody on Tuesday and Wednesday when the police questioned them. Paul Pogba’s elder brother willingly availed himself to investigators for questioning before being placed in police custody.

The rift between the two brothers came to the fore when Mathias Pogba threatened to expose who Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe are in a social media post.

A statement was released on behalf of the Juventus star: “Mathias Pogba’s recent statements on social media are unfortunately no surprise. They are in addition to threats and group-organised extortion attempts against Paul Pogba.

“The relevant authorities in Italy and France were contacted a month ago, and there will be no further comments in relation to the ongoing investigation.”
